Start of Spring Whales at Wilsons Prom

September 3, 2022

It has been a great week for Whale Watching at Wilsons Prom, after a slow start for the first couple of days the southern migration has kicked in with sightings of anywhere between 5 and 10 whales a day.

These whales are playful sub-adults that we tend to see over the first few weeks of the migration and are often entertaining with regular breaches, tail slaps and even some amazing close-up encounters. Some quite curious whales even coming close enough to eyeball the passengers, certainly an experience that stays with you.

With 50 odd humpback whales sighted in the last 6 trips there, together with some great dolphin, seabird and seal sightings it is a great time to take a cruise.

Take a look at our Whale Sightings Map to view where we have been finding whales.
